Bio:
Oscar van Heerden is a scholar of International Relations (IR), focusing on International Political Economy, with an emphasis on Africa, and SADC in particular. He completed his PhD and Masters studies at The University of Cambridge. His undergraduate studies were at Turfloop and Wits.
He is an active fellow of the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflections (MISTRA) and is a trustee for The Kgalema Mothlante Foundation.
Oscar has written a book, Consistent or Confused – The Politics of Mbeki’s Foreign Policy 1995-2007, as well as a number of academic journal articles on International Relations. He is a Fellow of the eleventh class of the Africa Leadership Initiative - South Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network
