Senior Advisor, Tencent, Inc. - Shanghai

Alex joined Tencent Group (0700.HK) as Senior Advisor leading InsureTech since 2020, and is appointed as Chairman of Samsung Property&Casualty Insurance Company (China),Ltd from Aug.2022, and Chairman of Fusure Reinsurance Company Limited in HK from April 2020. By technology innovation, Tencent is well known for devoting to improve the quality of life for users around the globe, help business growth and industries upgrade digitally, and striving to collaborate for the sustainable development of society. Prior to Tencent, Alex was Vice Chairman and Executive Director (2012.07-2020.03) at Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd (2318.HK and 601318SH) where he has been working more than 27 years. In those years, Ping A developed rapidly and is renowned as a world-leading technology-powered retail financial services group. Over the period from March.2011 to December.2019, Alex was appointed as President of the Group in charge of overall management. In the meantime, Alex was doubled as chairman of Ping A Trust between 2016 to 2019. Before that, as chairman and CEO, Alex was responsible for Ping A Property & Casualty Insurance Company Ltd more than 4 years from 2007. During the same period, Alex served as Senior Vice President of Group and Chief Insurance Business Officer. Alex also successively served as Director of numbers of controlled subsidiaries of the Company including Ping A Life, Ping A Property & Casualty and Ping An Asset Management., etc. Furthermore, Alex is also holding some key social positions in financial industry, including Executive Council Member of China Finance 40 Forum, Board Member of Shenzhen Finance Institute at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Chief Supervisor of Insurance Asset Management Association of China and President of Insurance Association of China, Internet Insurance Chapter. Alex received his MBA Degree from Peking University and is participating in Senior Executive Leadership Program(SELP) at Harvard Business School. Alex is also a Fellow of the sixth class of the China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
