Title and Organization:
Edgar Tung is managing director, head of global operations of the Esquel Group, one of the world's leading textile and apparel manufactures, employing 57,000 people worldwide and producing over 110 million cotton shirts every year for well-acclaimed brands and retailers.
Edgar has over 20 years of general management experiences. Prior to the Esquel Group, he has taken up top management positions in different industries, including apparel technology service, quality assurance as well as food and beverage retailing. His early experiences also include the founding of an Internet start-up that powers performance-based online marketing in Greater China, structuring of equity derivatives products for institutional and high net-worth clients of the Jardine Fleming Group, as well as coordinating the design and launch of Hong Kong’s Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System as an administrative officer of the Hong Kong Government.
An established public speaker, Edgar enjoys frequent presence at apparel and youth forums. He is the founding Chairman of the Youth Arch Foundation that aims at identifying and developing young leaders. He also chairs the supervisory committee of the Youth Arch Trust and sits on the Board of the Esquel - Y.L Yang Education Foundation. In 2009, Edgar was named one of China’s Most Innovative Leaders by Innovation China.
A native mainland Chinese grown up in Hong Kong, Edgar graduated from the Imperial College, London with a B.Eng (Computing) degree, and obtained his MBA from the Harvard Business School. Edgar is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
Edgar is a Fellow of the sixth class of the China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
