Paul Riseborough is chief commercial officer at Metro Bank, the first new challenger high street bank in the UK for over 100 years. At Metro, Paul manages the bank’s product, digital, communication and corporate transactions functions. His role focuses on shaping Metro Bank’s commercial plan, ensuring the bank delivers products, services and user experiences that are valued by customers. Prior to becoming CCO, he managed the bank’s private banking, financial services intermediaries and product businesses. Previously, Paul held various roles at Lloyds Banking Group and Halifax Bank of Scotland, including head of strategy and head of channel planning in the retail banking business and business manager to the chairman. Paul started his career in consultancy, working for the global policy and economics consultancy Oxford Analytica and management consultancy PA Consulting Group. He serves as a trustee board member of Making The Leap, a social mobility charity, and the Finance Innovation Lab, a non-profit that seeks to incubate the people, ideas and movements building a financial system that serves people and planet. In 2017 Paul co-wrote the book Naked Banking, which provided a candid assessment of why many consumer banks let customers down. Paul earned an MBA from the University of Warwick, a master's degree in European politics from the University of Oxford, and a first class bachelor’s degree from the University of Nottingham. He is also a member of the Chartered Banker Institute in the UK. He resides in London, England with his wife and daughter. Paul is a Fellow of the 2018 class of the Aspen Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
