The youngest member of Sonoco’s Executive Committee, John is a native of Decatur, Georgia, who fell in love with South Carolina. After settling in the Palmetto State to play baseball as an undergrad at Presbyterian College, John built an impressive legal career at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd in Columbia, S.C., later deciding to relinquish his partnership there to lead Sonoco’s legal team. At Sonoco, he manages the legal work and governance function of South Carolina’s largest homegrown company. John is active in multiple Bar organizations and the Association of Corporate Counsel. He holds a B.A. from Presbyterian College, an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business and a Juris Doctor from Samford University. He is a Fellow of the 2019 Class of Liberty Fellowship and is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
