Born in Georgia, Matt left home, moved out on his own and began supporting himself at age 15.
Winning award after award in his military career, he has been deployed multiple times to the Middle East with 188 combat hours over Iraq, Kosovo, and Yugoslavia. Matt recently retired from his 22-year career as an Air Force Officer which began as F-16 fighter pilot and included selection for the elite Fighter Weapons School to Chief Instructor Pilot. Earning a B.S. in English Literature from the University of Georgia he later graduated from Squadron Officer’s School and the Air Command and Staff College. He is a Fellow of the 2019 Class of Liberty Fellowship and is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
