First Name:
Umang
Last Name:
Bedi
Title and Organization:
Co-Founder - VerSe Innovation (Dailyhunt, Josh & PublicVibe Apps), VerSe Innovation
Bio:
As an entrepreneur, I am on a mission to include a billion people in the nation's digital narrative. Empowered by VerSe Innovation and our family of apps across Dailyhunt, Josh and PublicVibe, a social revolution around vernacular digital enablement is taking place. One that is fair, free from echo chambers and respectful of people’s privacy.
The hegemony of English owing to our colonial heritage & the dominance of the duopoly has limited a large section of our society from accessing quality information. Through my startup VerSe Innovation, local India or Bharat has begun to discover the internet in a language that speaks to their heart. Dailyhunt, Josh & PublicVibe give people an instrument that provides them with a gateway to be a part of the global digital revolution. It does so in their language. So that not only people understand and share stories that are important to them but feel too. Bharat has found a destination that has provided a platform to the billion stories that emanate from diversity, culture, traditions and the vibrant society of Bharat. At VerSe we inform, entertain and enrich 350 million people a month in 14 different languages using core, cutting edge artificial intelligence. While we find opportunities aplenty in this inclusive paradigm, one must always rise beyond the apparent to realise that the quest is at best in a nascent stage. Because beyond the cutting edge artificial intelligence and a massive professional network, it is human empathy that drives the growth engine at VerSe. We have been successful in creating India’s largest Digital media based local language platform. However, this is the beginning for us and while the journey to build the digital-human connection in their mother tongue continues, until we enrich the lives of a billion people there is much work to be done.
