David Mansouri is President & CEO of the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE). SCORE’s mission is to drive for changes that transform education so that all Tennessee students are prepared for success. The nonprofit organization was founded in 2009 by former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and today works in K-12, postsecondary, and workforce preparedness to advance student-focused policy, support and invest in innovative leaders and practices, pilot and scale promising proof points, and use data and research to identify ways to expand opportunity for students.
David sets the strategic vision for SCORE, guides SCORE’s leadership team, and builds and strengthens SCORE’s partnerships with leaders in Tennessee and across the nation. Over more than 15 years of work in education he has been at the forefront of Tennessee’s nationally leading reforms, working with policymakers, philanthropy, employers, and education leaders to improve K-12 outcomes, expand postsecondary success, and better connect education and employment. Prior to joining SCORE in 2010, David worked for the late US Senator Fred Thompson and Congressman Zach Wamp.
In addition to his work at SCORE, David serves on the board of directors of the Policy Innovators in Education (PIE) Network and is currently president of the Association of Rice Alumni. He is a member of the Practitioner Council of the Hoover Education Success Initiative at Stanford University and is an alumnus of Leadership Tennessee.
A Tennessee native, David received a bachelor’s degree in political science and music from Rice University, where he was a student of Sergiu Luca at the Shepherd School of Music. He received an MBA with honors from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. He is a Fellow of the 22nd class of the Pahara - Aspen Education Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
