Bio:
Yvonne Hao is the Secretary of Economic Development for the State of Massachusetts. She started this role in January 2023, as part of the Healey-Driscoll administration. Prior to this, she was a Co-founder, Advisor, and Managing Director of Cove Hill Partners, an investment firm with $2.5B AUM, focused on investing in technology companies. She is also the former COO/CFO of PillPack, a national retail ecommerce pharmacy aimed at helping customers take their medications and stay healthy. Yvonne joined PillPack in January 2017 and helped lead the sale and integration with Amazon in the Fall of 2018. Prior to PillPack, Yvonne was an operating partner at Bain Capital for more than 8 years, serving on the boards of, working closely with, and taking interim CEO and COO roles with portfolio companies. She also previously worked at Honeywell, where she started in corporate strategy, and then held roles as VP of Global Marketing for the Security business, and as GM for ADI North America, a ~$1.7B division. Her career began at McKinsey, where she worked for 5 years and was promoted to associate partner. Yvonne has been a board member of several public companies: Gentherm (thermal technology company); Flywire (global fintech company); CarGurus (online auto marketplace); and ZipRecruiter (online job site). She also has served on several private boards (including Bose) and several nonprofits (including Beth Israel Lahey Health System, Williams College, and the Commission on Presidential Debates). She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics and Asian studies, summa cum laude, from Williams College; and an M.Phil. in development economics from Cambridge University, where she was a Herschel Smith Scholar. She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts with her husband and two daughters. Yvonne is a member of the 2019 Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute.
