Joey Wat is Chief Executive Officer of Yum China Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: YUMC) and has been a member of Yum China’s board of directors since July 2017. Yum China separated from Yum! Brands, Inc. and became an independently listed company on the New York Stock Exchange on November 1, 2016. With exclusive rights to the KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands in China, and ownership of Little Sheep and East Dawning brands, Yum China is the largest independent restaurant company in the country. Ms. Wat served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Yum China from February 2017 to February 2018 and as Chief Executive Officer, KFC China from August 2015 (operating under YUM China Division, a division of Yum! Brands, Inc., at the time) to February 2017. Before joining YUM China Division in September 2014 as President of KFC China, Ms. Wat served in both management and strategy positions at AS Watson of Hutchison Group, an international health, beauty and lifestyle retailer, in the U.K. from 2004. Her last position at Watson was as Managing Director of Watson U.K., which operates Superdrug and Savers retail chains, specializing in the sale of health and beauty products. Before joining Watson, Ms. Wat spent seven years in management consulting including with McKinsey & Company in Hong Kong from 2000 to 2003. Ms. Wat holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor degree from Hong Kong University. She was ranked by FORTUNE magazine as one of the Top 25 China Most Powerful Women in Business in both 2017 and 2018, the Top 50 China Most Powerful Business Leaders in 2018, and the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in International Business. She is a Fellow of the seventh class of the China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
