Title and Organization:

Bio:
Madees Khoury is the general manager and brewer at Taybeh Brewing Co., the first micro-brewery in the Middle East. In 2023, Madees became a board member at Siraj, an NGO that establishes libraries in Palestinian communities in rural villages and refugee camps. Since 2018, Madees has served as a member of EcoPalestine board of directors, an NGO for Palestinian water and environmental issues. In 2010, Madees earned her master’s in business administration from Birzeit University. Later that year she spoke at the TEDx Holyland in Jerusalem and has become an advocate for family businesses operating under an adverse environment with challenging circumstances. In 2008, Madees attended a brewing and packaging seminar in China to further expand her knowledge in beer production. She is the organizer of the annual Taybeh Oktoberfest since 2007, a two-day event that helps promote local products, and show a different side of Palestine. In 2007, Madees graduated from Boston, MA, with a Bachelor of Arts in business management and leadership. Working in a male dominated industry, Madees experienced the difference between equality and justice, and the merits and downfalls of trying to reconcile the two. Working in such a challenging environment, determination is not only key to success but rather hope that the future cannot and will not remain unchanged.Madees is a Fellow of the sixth class of the Middle East Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
