Shehab Marzban is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Camel Ventures, the first Venture Debt investment in vehicle and the CEO of dfin Holding - a Fintech venture building platform. Previously, he initiated and has been Founding Chairman of Egypt Ventures, a pioneering government-backed venture capital firm and Chief Advisor to the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation. Within his capacity, he founded Falak Startups and EFG-EV Fintech accelerators investing over two years in more than 50 startups.
Prior to that, Shehab was Deputy Minister at the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation. Until 2015, he was Senior Consultant at the World Bank focusing on MSME financing and venture capital strategies across MENA. Shehab was also Co-Founder of Shekra Crowdfunding, receiving the Islamic Economy Award for Best SME Development by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2013. He joined Silicon Valley-based IdealRatings as Product Development Director and Head of Research in August 2008. Shehab was a visiting professor at IMD Business School, Zayed University, and Durham University among others. He serves as board member in a number of international institutions including the Islamic Development Bank and EFG Finance. Shehab has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science from Cairo University and received his PhD from the School of Economics at the University of Cologne in Germany, resulting in various publications in several international journals and conferences. Shehab is a Fellow of the sixth class of the Middle East Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
