Juma Aluraim joined ASYAD in March 2021 as acting Group Chief Commercial Officer responsible primarily for managing the Group Commercial Unit. Mr. Aluraimi is also among professionals appointed in 2020 to represent the Oman Investment Authority as heads and members of boards in the government firms under OIA supervision with governance, responsible investment mandate. He is also among highest calibre leaders and professionals graduates of Oman National CEO Program (NCP) delivered by IMD, world’s premier business development School, A first of its kind national initiative in the Sultanate to develop a generation of world-class executives, CEOs & business leaders.
Juma Aluraimi served as Commercial Finance Director of Oman LNG LLC with oversight of the company’s commercial finance functions and managing a portfolio of LNG & natural gas contracts with key buyers in Asia and Europe. His work & pedigree in the energy sector have been a pivotal driving force the success obtained by the LNG sector since the inception of this vibrant business in the Sultanate and Oman LNG’s standing in the global energy sector. He also provided strategy and policy advice to government, private sectors and NGOs and led numerous strategic initiatives in support of the Sultanate’s & region’s social and economic development. He also serving as an Experts Council Member at Harvard Business Review Arabic & affiliated with network of organizations dedicated to delivering positive impact on socio-economic fronts and enriching the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the MENA region. Between 2010-2014, Juma served as Middle East & North Africa Regional Finance Manager of Royal Dutch Shell responsible for a portfolio of regional upstream assets spanning across the oil and gas value chain. During his tenure, Juma had strategic oversight of the Shell’s broad investment portfolio, contributed towards delivery of world-class flagship projects and managed strategy execution during a challenging period of declining commodity prices and civil unrest in the region, locking in significant cost efficiencies and operational improvements whilst high grading the portfolio to focus on value-adding assets, maximizing social impact and partnerships fostering the region’s efforts to creating meaningful employment opportunities, improve access to energy and meet growing need for clean energy solutions. He played instrumental role in execution of one of the largest energy projects in Iraq to rehabilitate the natural gas infrastructure and address shortage of natural gas for power generation in Basrah following years of sanctions. He holds MBA (UK), BSc in Business Economics (U.S.), Degree in Near Eastern Studies (U.S.), Executive Education from IMD Business School, Switzerland. Juma is a Fellow of sixth class of the Aspen Institute Middle East Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
