Title and Organization:
Sherard is a film and messaging professional who specializes in visual storytelling, film education and advocacy of Hip-Hop culture. Founder & Executive Producer of OTR Media Group in Columbia, he is an accomplished editor, director and producer on projects for VH1, Discovery Channel, MTV and BET. His goal is to produce work that infuses multicultural programming with a deep commitment to authenticity. Sherard’s experience includes work with Mad Monkey Productions, Genesis Studios in Cayce, and Director of Media Education at the Nickelodeon Theatre. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia College.
Self-described as a smart kid from a large family in a very poor neighborhood in Columbia, Sherard is a first-generation college graduate earning a B.A. in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina.
He serves on the board for Concerned Black Men of Columbia and The RAM (Reading Art Mathematics) Foundation, a privately run under-served youth enrichment program. He was named a 2016 Leo Twiggs Arts Leadership Scholar by the South Carolina Arts Commission. In 2015 he was named an American Graduate Champion by South Carolina ETV and was s recognized as a “South Carolina 40 Under 40” by the South Carolina Black Pages and Black Expo South Awards.
