Leon Ford is an entrepreneur in residence for Bronze Investments, a San Francisco-based venture capital fund, where he is learning how to rebuild communities through love and impact investing. Leon survived a police shooting during a traffic stop when he was nineteen years old that paralyzed him. Now 26, he has become a leader in his community engaging in advocacy, public speaking, and political engagement regarding social issues. His philanthropic efforts include support for Fight for Fifteen, an organization that empowers the community to understand their legal rights, Black is Pittsburgh, a committee that works with Pittsburgh youth community ambassadors to formulate campaigns, and AR3, a summer basketball league used to promote healing and peace within the community. In 2018, Leon was named one of the 100 most influential black people in America by The Root and was named 2017’s Pittsburgher of the Year by Pittsburgh City Paper. He was a 2017 recipient of President Obama’s Volunteer Service Award. Leon is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Civil Society Fellowship, A Partnership of ADL and The Aspen Institute, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
