Dean Villet is the Managing Director for the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF), where he leads the foundation’s South Africa based efforts to transform the lives of children living in poverty through improved education and family economic stability. In this role, Dean ensures the development and delivery of the South African portfolio of initiatives that improve learning outcomes in schools serving children from low income communities; that improve graduation and employment rates of first generation university students from poor families; and that catalyze sustainable models that help youth and poor families gain access to meaningful employment. He has served on the boards of MSDF’s investee companies, SweepSouth, Valenture Institute and Enlabeler. Prior to joining the foundation, Dean was the Director of Professional Services for Sub-Sharan Africa at Itron Inc., a global technology and services company in the energy sector. He also served on the board of Ipay (Pty) Ltd, a technology startup based out of Cape Town. Before that, Dean spent fourteen years in various roles at Eskom, ending his career there as the Portfolio Manager of Distribution Strategic Projects. Dean holds a B.Eng. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pretoria, and is an Aspen African Leadership Initiaitive Fellow of the 12th class.
