Title and Organization:
Nomfundo Mogapi currently the Executive Director at the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) and the lead of the Mental Wellness Initiative for COVID 19. Ms. Mogapi is a clinical psychologist by training. She has over 20 years of experience in the mental health and psychosocial sector. She also has over 16 years of experience in senior leadership and management within the sector. Previously she worked as the Head of Psychosocial interventions at CSVR and as the director for the South African Institute for Traumatic Stress (SAITS). Her areas of expertise include integrating psychosocial expertise within policy and programming on a range of issues such as leadership, human rights, peacebuilding, governance, democracy, and transitional justice.
She has a passion for providing and understanding the psychosocial healing of individuals, institutions, and collectives. She has used this to shape policies and programs such as the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP), The African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (ACPHR) General Comment on Redress for Victims of torture and to provide capacity building to a range of groups including leaders and managers within the health and education sector.
