Bio:
I have over 20 years of experience in the design, construction and development of property and property investments garnered mainly in South African institutional investment industry.
My career has spanned many diverse environments, beginning with a stint as a professional architect at Revel Fox and Partners Architects in the late nineties before leaving the profession to join the real estate arm of the largest insurance company in South Africa Old Mutual Properties. There I developed and acquired investments in the residential, office, industrial and retail sectors of the market. I was a member of the Old Mutual Property Executive Committee, and responsible for the creation and management of the Old Mutual SRI Real Estate Fund until my departure in 2011.
My latest role prior to joining the V&A Waterfront was as the General Manager of Development and Investment at Communicare, the oldest social and affordable housing Non-Profit Company (NPC) in South Africa.
I hold several qualifications from the University of Cape Town including a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the UCT Graduate School of Business.
I am a fellow of the Centre for Leadership and Public Policy Values based at UCT and Duke University and a Bertha Scholar of the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship based at The Graduate School of Business in Cape Town.
