Bio:
Dawn Mthombeni is Executive: Office of the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Absa Group. Dawn has extensive experience in the financial services industry and has served Absa Group in a number of executive roles, most recently as Chief Risk Officer in the Information and Technology Office. She previously also held the roles of Chief Control Officer in Operations and Technology and Chief Operating Officer for the Enterprise and Supply Chain unit. A dynamic communicator and problem-solver, she is well-versed in driving business change initiatives and constructing and executing risk mitigation strategies. Her previous experience also positions her well to ensure that organisational operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and corporate governance, while prioritising sustainable relationships with all stakeholders. Dawn has a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology, graduating with Honors at the University of Johannesburg. She also has an MBA from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, an MPhil in Development Finance from Stellenbosch University and recently completed an Advanced Management Programme with IMD in Switzerland. In addition, she is a fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative South Africa, where she contributes towards solving problems that are specific to the African continent. She has also led Women Development Initiatives in various organisations.
