She quickly became one of the most sought-after corporate speakers and has hosted global shows and keynotes with Microsoft, JP Morgan, and the United Nations, among others. She founded "GoLike," a media company named among the 100 most powerful Latina businesses in the U.S.
Originally from Venezuela, Mariana was a part of the student movement for democracy in her home country and came to the United States on a scholarship to study journalism at Columbia University.
She won a Peabody Award and an Investigative Reporters and Editor’s (IRE) award for her work uncovering illegal weapons sold across the border in Mexico; as well as a Gracie Award for directing, writing, and reporting “Pressionados”, a documentary about press freedom in Latin America.
Mariana is a 2021 Henry Crown fellow at the Aspen Institute. Her venture is the American Latino Museum in Washington, D.C., where she is a spokesperson.
If you are into true crime, her latest project is an investigative podcast about two women who go missing on a trail, which tackles femicide in Latin America. It's called "Lost in Panama" and it was among Apple's top 10 podcasts week of release.
