Bio:
Amir Farokhi is a City Councilmember in Atlanta. When elected, he became the first Iranian-American elected official in the American South. Amir also serves as director of CARE's Corporate Council which he helped design and now runs to engage senior executives of CARE’s corporate partners in pursuit of gender equality. Previously, Amir served as chief operating officer of College Advising Corps, a $30M+ national education non-profit which works to increase the number of low-income students who apply to and attend college. Prior to that, he co-founded the non-partisan statewide nonprofit Georgia Forward “to engage leaders at [the] intersection of business, government and civil society, to develop collaborative policy solutions for Georgia," and practiced law for five years with international law firm McKenna Long, & Aldridge LLP (now Dentons LP). He is a graduate of Duke University and the Duke University School of Law. Amir is a Fellow of the Civil Society Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
