Bio:
Joy Friedman is a seasoned community organizer and philanthropic strategist based in Los Angeles, with over 20 years of experience building political power across lines of difference for the common good. She currently serves as Senior Director of Donor Organizing at Liberty Hill Foundation, where she mobilizes progressive philanthropists to support grassroots movements through values-aligned giving. Joy also serves on the boards of LA Forward and the One America Movement. Previously, Joy spent 13 years at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC), where she led a national team that organized 850 congregations and 2,000 rabbis to pursue justice in partnership with churches, mosques, coalitions, and advocacy campaigns. Her work has advanced voting rights, immigration reform, housing justice, and more. Raised Jewish in Lawrence, Kansas, Joy is deeply shaped by her experience as a religious minority and her belief in the power of cross-cultural relationships. Joy is a Fellow of the second class of the Civil Society Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
