Gloria Walton is committed to creating equitable climate solutions that center the people closest to the problem. Gloria is an award-winning organizer, writer, and the President and CEO of The Solutions Project. The Solutions Project is a national organization that has accelerated the transition to 100 percent clean, renewable energy — wind, water, solar — through grantmaking and amplifying the solutions of frontline communities in media. Previously Gloria served as the President & CEO of SCOPE, a South LA-based social and economic justice organization committed to organizing and building power in low-income, black, brown, women and immigrant communities in Los Angeles. Gloria is a gubernatorial appointee to the CA Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Program Technical Advisory Council, and LA County Board of Supervisor appointee to Central Santa Monica Bay Watershed Area Steering Committee. She serves on the Board of Directors of Rockwood Leadership Institute, is a Founding Coordinating Committee member of the Los Angeles Black Worker Center and Founding Advisory Board member of BOLD (Black Organizing for Leadership & Dignity). Gloria has received several awards for her leadership, including NAACP-LA’s Empowerment Award and the LA League of Conservation Voters Environmental Justice Champion Award. She was recently named a 2020 Grist 50 Fixer, and recipient of the 2020 South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Environmental Justice for All Award. Gloria is a Fellow of the Civil Society Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
