Bio:
Melissa Hyatt currently serves as Senior Advisor for the United States Marshals Service. Before assuming that role, she was the first woman to serve as chief of the Baltimore County Police Department. Previously, she was vice president for security at Johns Hopkins University & Johns Hopkins Medicine, holding global security responsibilities for a major research university and health system. Prior to that position, she retired from the Baltimore City Police Department at the rank of Colonel, after serving in roles such as Chief of Staff to the Police Commissioner, Chief of Patrol, and Chief of the Special Operations Section. She served as the Baltimore City Police Department liaison for the Maryland Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Maryland; a law enforcement lead in Baltimore for Peace Player International, involved with launching its pilot program in Baltimore; co-founder of the “Bridging Officers and Students with Swimming" program; and police department lead of the Parks and People Foundation's Baltimore Middle School Lacrosse League. She also played a significant role in the public safety response to the unrest in Baltimore City in 2015. Melissa currently serves as the President of the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association and the Chair of the Human Resources and Emerging Issues Committee for the Major Cities Chiefs Association. Melissa is a Fellow of the Civil Society Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
