Bio:
Aarti Tandon is a human rights advocate and smart cities leader. Through her firm, Citizen Eight LLC and platform, Smart City Expo USA, she is bridging the racial wealth and equity gap by building smart, equitable, and sustainable 21st century cities. She has convened thousands of global and local leaders on creating equity, resiliency, and economic mobility by harnessing the $1.6 trillion global smart city marketplace. Previously, Aarti spent a decade at the intersection of entertainment, technology, and criminal justice law. She has represented Grammy-nominated and top Bollywood artists and collaborated with celebrities on issues of sustainability, innovation, and equity. She produced “Catching the Sun” (Netflix), a film about solar energy and income inequality executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, and “The Uncondemned” about the first conviction of rape as a crime of war. In 2008, George W. Bush granted one of only 11 Presidential Commutations to Aarti’s client who was serving 14 years in federal prison. Aarti is a Fellow of the Civil Society Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
