Bio:
Mia Garza McCord is President of Hourglass Strategies, LLC, a government and public affairs consulting firm in Texas.
A South Texas native, McCord began her work in Texas government and politics after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004. She has nearly two decades of experience in Texas public policy, campaigns, government relations, and most recently, serving as President of a conservative think tank, the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute (TCCRI).
Prior to founding Hourglass Strategies, LLC, McCord's service as President of the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute (TCCRI) was notable as the organizations first Hispanic and first woman to serve in this capacity. She's currently a senior advisor for the public policy think-tank.
Mia's political passions have led to a recent effort aimed at meaningful and sustained Republican Hispanic Outreach in the state through the Coalition Por/For Texas where she serves as executive director.
In addition to her professional roles, Mia strongly believes in giving back to the community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Red State Women and Clear Skies Texas, and the Advisory Boards for the LBJ Women’s Campaign School and the Texas Federation of College Republicans. She’s a Leadership Network Member of American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a member the Women’s Symphony League of Austin, the ZACH Theatre Marketing Committee, and incoming Vice-President for the Hyde Park Parent Teacher Fellowship. Mia is a Fellow of the Civil Society Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
McCord lives in Leander, Texas with her husband John, and their two children, John Mark and Estela.
