Bio:
Sameer is an early-stage venture investor in 75+ startups. He is a MD at Nexus Venture Partners, where he opened & leads their Bangalore office. His operational expertise is in product management, business development, sales acceleration, recruiting, follow-on fundraising, & scaling.
At Nexus, he has led investments at Postman, Unacademy, Infra.market, Hasura.io, Zomato(NSE), Triomics, Animall, Rocketlane, Ultrahuman, Jumbotail, CapGrid, Zolo, Vahak, Joveo, Aurva.io, SmartStaff, Quandl (Nasdaq), 56Secure, Newton School, Venwiz, Tooljet.io, Indix (Avalara), etc.
Prior to Nexus, he was the founding member at Reliance Capital’s early stage VC fund (Reliance Ventures) where he led investments in PayTM (stake acquired by Alipay), HealthSpring (Columbia Pacific), Tessolve Semiconductor (Hero Electronix), Dhama Innovations (exited), Greendust, Stoke (Mavenir Systems) & EBand Comm (CarrierCom).
Sameer founded Breakthrough Capital, an equity-focused investment entity managing his personal capital which wrote foundational cheques in Bira91, Licious, Slice, Pristyn Care, EpiFi, amongst others. He is also the Founder & Managing Partner at BroadBridge Capital Management, his vehicle to invest into public special-situation opportunities & founded Firestone Capital Management FZA, a global public tech oriented prop book investment vehicle.
Sameer has served in operating roles at UTStarcom, Ericsson & American Wireless BroadBand, as a Product Manager, Solutions Architect & Network Architect.
Sameer is a Founder at Ashoka University which aspires to be the best liberal arts university in the world. He is also a Founder at Plaksha University which aspires to be India's best technology university. He is a Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellow @ The Aspen Institute (equivalent of the Henry Crown Fellows) & member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). He is also an OnDeck Health Fellow, Kautilya Fellow, Member of FT's Climate Capital Council, Global Panel Member at MIT Tech Review & a member of VC Sector Core Council at the Indian Venture Capital Association. He is also on the advisory board of The Digital Fifth, an Advisor to AngelList India, Advisory Board member at Village Global, Advisor to Microsoft Ventures India & voted as “40 under 40 Alternative Investment Professionals" in India by IAAIF.
Sameer earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering as an International & Founders Scholar from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. While in college he interned with Hughes Software Systems, UTStarcom, Spectranet & did research work for Molex, NSF & IIT Research Institute.
