Sameer is an early-stage venture investor in ~70 startups.
He is currently a Managing Director at Nexus Venture Partners, where he opened & leads their Bangalore office. At Nexus, he has led investments in Postman, Unacademy, Infra.market, Hasura.io, Zolo, Ultrahuman, Joveo, Vahak, Rocketlane, Joveo, Zomato, Aerotime, Venwiz, Quandl (NASDAQ), Goodera, MayaData, Jumbotail, MyUpchar, Goals101 & Indix (Avalara).
Prior to Nexus, Sameer was the founding member at Reliance Capital’s early stage venture capital fund (Reliance Ventures) where he led investments in PayTM (stake acquired by Chinese internet giant), HealthSpring (Columbia Pacific), Tessolve Semiconductor (Hero Electronix), Dhama Innovations (buy-back), Greendust, Stoke (Mavenir Systems) & EBand Communications (CarrierCom).
Sameer founded Breakthrough Capital, a private market equity-focused investment entity managing his personal capital. Notable investments at Breakthrough include - Slice, Fi.money, Pristyn Care, Bira91, Licious, OnDeck, among many other leading companies. He is also the Founder & Managing Partner at BroadBridge Capital Management, his vehicle to invest into public special-situation / turnaround opportunities.
His operational expertise is product management, business development, sales acceleration, recruiting, follow-on fundraising, and scaling. He is on the advisory board of The Digital Fifth, an Advisor to AngelList India, Advisory Board member at Village Global, Advisor to Microsoft Ventures India & voted as a “40 under 40 Alternative Investment Professionals" in India by IAAIF. He is also a Global Panel Member at MIT Technology Review and a Kautilya Fellow (Class of 2020). Sameer is a fellow of Class 8 of the Ananta Aspen Centre's Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship (equivalent of the Henry Crown Fellowship) and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). He is also an OnDeck Health Fellow (ODH1 2021).
A life-long learner, Sameer earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering as an International & Founders Scholar from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. While at IllinoisTech, he also interned at Hughes Software Systems, UTStarcom, Spectranet and did undergraduate research work for National Science Foundation / Ed-Kaplan Foundation, Molex and IIT Research Institute (IITRI).
