Bio:
Vivek Lal is a medical doctor with specialization in Community Medicine from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, New Delhi). He is currently working as the Team Leader for the Global Leprosy Programme at the World Health Organization (WHO). Prior to joining the WHO, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Sasakawa-India Leprosy Foundation (S-ILF). He has over 15 years of public health experience involving advocacy, planning, implementation and research. He has been a member of the International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations (ILEP) Technical Commission, member of Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy (GPZL), member of the Neglected Tropical Disease NGO Network’s (NNN) and advisory member to the Association of People Affected by Leprosy (APAL). He is the recipient of Professor Cairns Smith Scholarship for disseminating approaches towards zero transmission of leprosy. He has a passion for leprosy and driven by a mission to address the needs of persons affected by leprosy in a holistic manner, focused on both medical and social aspects of the disease. Vivek is a Fellow of the eighth class of the Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship in India and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
