Ruchi Gupta is a public policy leader from India with nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of democratic governance, institutional reform, and political strategy. She has worked at the highest levels of policymaking at both state and national levels, advancing accountability, inclusion, and youth opportunity.
She currently serves as Executive Director of the Future of India Foundation, a non-partisan institution focused on harnessing India’s demographic and democratic dividend. She leads a first-of-its-kind national initiative to develop District Youth Report Cards - an integrated evidence base combining 17 government datasets to assess skilling and employment readiness across all ~800 districts. The initiative supports elected representatives in translating data into responsive, youth-focused development strategies.
Previously, Ruchi led India’s largest progressive student and youth organization, with over 4 million registered members. In 2016, she played a key role in a rare parliamentary milestone - helping secure an opposition-led amendment to the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha, only the fifth such instance in independent India’s history. The amendment defended the right of all citizens to contest local elections.
A former McKinsey consultant and Aspen Global Leadership Fellow, she is also a widely published columnist, with over 150 articles on political economy, democratic transitions, and technology governance in leading Indian and international publications.
