Bio:
Carolina Gomez, Deputy Director, Aspen Colombia Carolina Gomez has always been intrigued by individual and social psychology, wealth, poverty, and inequality, as well as the myriad tensions that exist between these concepts. In pursuit of answers, she studied Economics at The University of Chicago, captivated by all the humanities classes. Unbeknownst to her at the time, this foundation would later guide her leadership at The Aspen Institute in Colombia, employing the same seminar methodology of the Great Books of the Western World. Over the past 20 years, she has worked in human and social development across Colombia, the United States, and Europe, in the public, private, and social sectors: Morgan Stanley Investment Bank (New York), AlvarAlice Foundation (New York), IFC - World Bank (Bogotá), UNICEF (Geneva), Colombian Agency for Reintegration (Bogota), Fundacion Corona (Bogotá), and Filantropico (Bogota). In her continued search for answers, she completed a master’s degree in Social Policy and Development at The London School of Economics. Throughout this journey, yoga has been a constant presence and guides her personal practice. Today, as she continues to cultivate self-awareness, Carolina finds that the philosophy of yoga provides answers to the many questions she still has about both her own and our collective human existence. She is mother to six year old twin girls, Alea and Maria, THE most enriching and challenging experience! Currently lives in Honolulu, Hawaii, as her husband is completing his doctorate in architecture.
