Themba Baloyi is an Innovative Entrepreneurial Business Leader who founded Discovery Insure Ltd launched in 2011. He worked on the Discovery Insure vision against numerous rebuttals until it came to fruition. The Discovery Insure work propelled him to win the 2018 AABLA Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He was honoured as a 2015 World Economic Forum Young Global Leader (WEF-YGL).
Themba is the Immediate Past President of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) and is a board member of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, Curro Holdings, and CalgroM3 Holdings among others. He was a Member of the YPO Africa Region Board for 2 years, in July 2022 he was appointed to the YPO International Membership Council.
Themba is a committed family man and long-distance runner, and he has been running for more than 30 years. He was awarded the Green Number in 2012 (for obtaining Ten Comrades Marathon=89.9kms Medals) and has completed 15 Comrades Marathons. He has an active running streak of more than 1700days and he has an aspiration to run the Kalahari Desert 248km race.
Themba is a Fellow of the Africa Leadership Akani Class and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
