Zanele Mbatha is the CEO of Bambili Energy a manufacturer of hydrogen fuel cell systems & their sub-components. On behalf of Bambili, Zanele is:
• Co-leading the development of the fuel cell industry
• Co-developing the first Hydrogen Corridor in South Africa with South African and international corporations for the roll-out of hydrogen fuel cell trucks and buses
• Co-developing the first Hydrogen Valley in South Africa with the South African Government and local and international corporations for hydrogen economic hubs
• Lead the creation of the first Hydrogen fuel cell training programme in Africa that has graduated 35 engineers and technicians
• Previously Head of Financial Markets at the SA Reserve Bank, the unit which manages country’s foreign reserves and implements of South Africa's monetary policy.
• Former Chief Executive of Incwala Resources, a platinum mining company in South Africa. Zanele was also a Co-founder and Director of Dema Group, a majority shareholder in Incwala Resources.
• A former Executive Director of Abt Associates Inc, where she co-established its regional office for southern Africa, where she was responsible for advising the South African government on the telecommunication and transportation sectors.
• Prior to Abt Associates, Zanele was an Investment Banker at Salomon Brothers and J.P. Morgan Inc., in New York City, USA.
• Zanele has served as Non-Executive Director and Chairman on several Boards, including Lonplats (Lonmin Plc.’s operating company), Hollard Insurance and Dema Group, Incwala Resources and Bambili Group.
• Zanele was nominated as an African Leadership Fellow at the Aspen Global Leadership Network & African Leadership Initiative in 2020.
