Crystal Orderson is an award winning South African journalist covering the country’s transition from the Nelson Mandela to Cyril Ramaphosa presidency. Crystal is News Editor at one of the country’s largest commercial broadcasters. Prior to this she was also a News Editor at a 25 hour news channel. Orderson is a contributor and analysts to several media outlets including 702 talk radio - one of the country’s largest talk radio stations. Prior to this Crystal was West Africa bureau chief for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, SABC News based in Dakar Senegal. Crystal is also active in several community based projects including a board member of Bulungula Incubator, winner of the 2014 Mcnulty prize. A regular speaker on media and development issues, Crystal is also a advisory member of the school of journalism at Cape Peninsula University if Technology, CPUT in Cape Town, SA. She earned a BA ( Hons ) from the University of Cape Town and MA from Sussex University. Crystal is part of Akani, African Leadership Initiative, ALI 2022-2023.
