Bio:
Juanyce D. Taylor, PhD, MSEd, serves as Director of Equity Initiatives in the School of Population Health (SOPH) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). She also leads the Interdisciplinary Learning Lab at the Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities. She holds the faculty rank of full professor in the Department of Population Health Science in the SOPH and in the Doctor of Health Administration Program in the School of Health Related Professions (SHRP). Other roles held at UMMC include Assistant Dean for Research and Innovation, Department Chair of Health Sciences, and Program Director for the Master of Health Sciences Program (SHRP) including Director of Diversity Assessment and Programs (Multicultural Affairs). Prior to UMMC, she worked at the University of Mississippi to successfully lead a statewide consortium sponsored by the National Science Foundation to increase student and faculty diversity in STEM fields and also at Auburn University for enhancing recruitment and retention programs for historically underrepresented and marginalized students. She has received generous funding from national, state, and local organizations to support programs and initiatives for need-based scholarships for rural students, males of color in the health professions, LGBTQ health, and efforts addressing access to higher education, health equity, and structural racism. With over 20 years of combined experience in academic medicine and higher education, she is the recipient of numerous awards and honors for her leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion. She is from Jackson, Mississippi and received her BS and PhD degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and her MSEd from Jackson State University.
