Bio:
Mariama Anthony-Williams is a chartered accountant with over 21years grounded career
experience in Finance and Accounting, Strategic Planning and Budgeting, Project
Management, Grant making, Audit and Assurance Services, and Management consulting
services amongst others. Mariama is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants (FCCA) UK, holds an Executive MBA degree from the University of Malta and is a
PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner.
She is currently the Country Director of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, Sierra
Leone. In this role, Mariama is a Policy, strategy, and delivery adviser to the President of
Sierra Leone. She has worked as an advisor with Oxford Policy Management, DAI and British
Council on several Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) funded
projects. She has years of experience working with civil servants and political leaders in Africa
and Europe. She has worked in various capacities as Results Oriented Monitoring (ROM)
expert and as an embedded adviser in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development
to support EU-Funded medium term budget and strategic planning, procurement and other
reforms at national and local government levels. She has also served as an external adviser
to various Security and Justice Sector Reform Projects over the last 10 yeas. Other
organisations she has served in are; EU projects Support Unit, University of Malta, Justice
Sector Coordination Office (JSCO), Poverty Alleviation Strategy Coordinating Office
(PASCO), and KPMG In addition to working mostly with the Public sector, Mariama believes
in and has supported civil society and demand side accountability work in various countries.
She served on the Advisory Board of the Open Society Initiative for West Africa for 7 years
and was the Vice Chair of the Board. She was also a member of the Audit Committee of the
Anti-Corruption Commission, Sierra Leone.
