Bio:
Gunnar Overstrom is a Partner at Corsair Capital and serves as a member and the Chief Investment Officer of both Corsair’s Buyouts and Infrastructure Investment Committees. He joined Corsair in 2020 and has been involved with several of the firm’s investments since 2014. Mr. Overstrom is a Director of Corsair portfolio companies First Eagle Investment Management, Spring Venture Group, and Miracle Mile Advisors.
From 2001 to 2012, Mr. Overstrom was a Partner, portfolio manager, and member of the Management Committee at Maverick Capital. At Maverick, Mr. Overstrom was responsible for all investments in financial services, business services, and real estate and started the firm’s credit investment activities. In 2013, Mr. Overstrom founded Three Corner Global, a hedge fund focused on investing globally in mid-cap companies in financial, business services, and adjacent sectors. In addition to his public markets investment experience, Mr. Overstrom has been involved in a number of successful private investments in high growth and emerging sectors within financial services.
Prior to joining Maverick, from 1994 to 2001, Mr. Overstrom was a member of Morgan Stanley’s Financial Institutions Group in New York where he worked on several industry-leading mergers and acquisitions. While at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Overstrom also worked with the Corporate Office on strategy and M&A, reviewing potential acquisitions and mergers for the parent company. Mr. Overstrom started his career at Citigroup, where he completed the firm’s credit training program and worked in the real estate workout and firm-wide strategy groups.
Mr. Overstrom holds a B.A. from Hobart College and an M.B.A. from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Management, where he received the Wall Street Journal Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in finance and the A. Donald Kelso Award given to individuals who have contributed significantly to the achievement of the school.
Mr. Overstrom lives in New York City and Long Island with his wife and has two children – a rising junior and rising sophomore at Yale University. Outside of work, he is an avid sportsman who enjoys tennis, golf, paddle tennis, padel, cycling, and hiking as well as non-athletic pursuits including reading non-fiction, watching documentary films and playing backgammon. He also loves 60’s and 70’s music, and traveling and time at home with his family.
