Bio:
Shundrawn A. Thomas is the founder and managing partner of The Copia Group (Copia), an alternatives investment firm which provides capital solutions to privately held, lower middle market companies. Prior to founding Copia, Shundrawn served as president of Northern Trust Asset Management and a member of the executive management group of Northern Trust Corporation. His executive roles included Head of FlexShares ETFs, President of Northern Trust Securities, and Head of Corporate Strategy. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Shundrawn worked at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in sales, trading, and research divisions. Shundrawn is a thought leader, speaker, and author of four books including Discover Joy in Work: Transforming Your Occupation into Your Vocation. Shundrawn has earned numerous industry accolades. ThinkAdvisor, a leading investment publication, selected him as a member of the Luminaries Class of 2021. That same year InvestmentNews honored him with a lifetime achievement award for leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion. He serves as a Board Director of Reinsurance Group of America (NYSE: RGA) and as a trustee for Rush University Medical Center, and Chicago’s Museum of Science & Industry. Shundrawn received a bachelor’s degree in accounting, graduating magna cum laude, from Florida A&M University. He also earned a Master of Business Administration with a finance concentration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was a Toigo Fellow. Shundrawn is a Fellow in the sixth class of the Finance Leaders Fellowship of the Aspen Institute. He is happily married to his lovely wife, Latania, and they have two young adult sons.
