Robert is Founder and CEO of Compass, the #1 real estate brokerage by sales volume in the United States. Founded in 2012 and drawing inspiration from his mother, Ruth, a longtime real estate agent, Compass has achieved a trillion dollars in real estate sales and serves more than 30,000 agents. Prior to Compass, Robert worked at Goldman Sachs as Chief of Staff to the President and COO following five years working in the firm's private equity arm. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he worked at Lazard and McKinsey & Company. In 2005, he was appointed as a White House Fellow to work as special assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury. Beyond his business endeavors, he has run 50 marathons, one in each state, raising $1 million for nonprofits, including America Needs You, which he founded to empower low-income, first-generation college students. Robert was appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to the NYC Board of Education and the NYC Workforce Investment Board and holds both a B.A. and M.B.A. from Columbia University. He currently resides in New York with his wife and three children. He’s a member of the 2024 Class of Henry Crown Fellows within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute.
