Bio:
Juliet M. Kavishe is an Executive Board member of the Pan African Design Institute (PADI), striving to create a design community specifically for design professionals and academics focusing on African design and African-focused design education. With an M (Prof) in Interior Architecture and 18 years of cross-continental experience in design practice, education, and research, her expertise spans high-end residential, commercial, and museum design.
Juliet's research focuses on African design, decolonisation, and indigeneity and addresses contemporary African issues through policy and research. Juliet's expertise in high-end design projects and educational leadership demonstrates her capacity to guide think tanks and institutional research hubs and shape their research direction. Juliet is also a past Vice President of the International Council of Design, whose mission is to increase the recognition of the value of design, elevate the global standards of all design disciplines, and improve the situation of individual designers everywhere. Her recognition as a top design voice underscores Juliet's influence and strategic vision, in addition to being recognised as one of South Africa's top 100 Design Voices in 2024.
Juliet is a Fellow of the fourteenth class of the African Leadership Initiative, South Africa a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
