Bio:
Manu S Pillai is an Indian historian and the award winning author of five books: The Ivory Throne (2015), Rebel Sultans (2018), The Courtesan, the Mahatma & the Italian Brahmin (2019), False Allies (2021), and most recently, Gods, Guns & Missionaries (2024). Formerly chief of staff of Dr Shashi Tharoor MP, chairman of the foreign relations committee of the Indian parliament, Manu holds a PhD in history from King's College London. A winner of the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar--awarded by India's national academy of letters to writers under 35--he is also a columnist at Mint Lounge, and has been published in various national and international publications.
