Bio:
Xavier Martini, a French national, is the Principal Investment Officer leading MIGA’s investment portfolio, the guarantees arm of the World Bank. He provides strategic direction and oversight for MIGA’s investment activities, supporting the institution’s growth and long-term financial sustainability.
Previously, Xavier served as a Senior Portfolio Manager in the World Bank’s Asset Management and Advisory division, managing alpha overlay strategies within a $100 billion portfolio and providing technical assistance to the Bank’s member states overseeing more than $2 trillion in assets collectively.
Before joining the United Nations system, Xavier spent over a decade in the private sector, managing portfolios at some of the world’s most sophisticated financial institutions. He was a key contributor to Citadel’s London platform from 2012 to 2017 and later held investment management roles at Millennium and Balyasny. His expertise centers on developed rates markets, at the intersection of economics, politics, and geopolitics.
Xavier is also an active investor in early-stage companies across the United States, United Kingdom, and France. He is a Fellow of the Aspen Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
