Bio:
Xavier Martini, a French national, is a senior portfolio manager in the World Bank asset management and advisory division. He oversees the management of active relative value and global macro strategies within an $80 billion portfolio. He also provides regular technical financial assistance to the Bank’s member states and institutions managing over $2 trillion collectively. Prior to joining the United Nations system, he spent more than a decade in the private sector, alternatively serving as team lead and portfolio manager for some of the world’s most sophisticated global funds including Citadel, where he was a key contributor to the London platform between 2012 and 2017, Millennium and Balyasny. Xavier specializes in the management of fixed income portfolios, at the intersection of economics, politics and geopolitics. He started his career on the sell side at Credit Agricole and Merrill Lynch in London, trading government bonds during the European sovereign crisis. An active investor in many start-ups across the United States, the United Kingdom and France, Xavier is also committed to giving back through teaching, charitable involvement and policy formulation in France.
