About

First Name:
Silvia
Last Name:
Console Battilana
Title and Organization:
Co-Founder and CEO, Auctionomics
Bio:
Dr. Silvia Console Battilana is the CEO of Auctionomics, a market design firm that develops and implements the world's most complex and high-stakes auctions, which she co-founded with Nobel laureate Paul Milgrom while pursuing her Ph.D. in economics at Stanford. Dr. Battilana is a WEF Young Global Leader and a highly sought after speaker who has given lectures on economics, game theory, and market design at prestigious institutions around the world including Harvard, Berkeley, Bocconi, and Caltech. At Auctionomics, Dr. Battilana has co-designed and advised on multi-billion dollar global auctions across a variety of different industries and applications including radio spectrum, oil and gas, and digital advertising. Now, she's applying her unparalleled expertise in market design to one of the world's most pressing issues--water scarcity--by creating water markets that incentivize conservation while respecting the rights of existing stakeholders. Modeled on Silvias Emmy-winning work on the FCC's historic $19B spectrum incentive auction, this new approach to water markets will incentivize farmers and other water rights holders to adopt new water conservation technologies, transform water resource management practices, and help address acute water shortages around the world in a way that is fair, efficient, and transparent for all stakeholders.
