Nicholas Vita is co-founder, chairman and CEO of Apriligen, Inc, a private biotechnology company focused on developing gene therapies for rare, pediatric diseases. Prior to that, he was CEO of The Cannabist Company Holdings, Inc. (f.k.a. Columbia Care, Inc.), where he was a co-founder and a member of the board of directors. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Nick spent over a decade as an investor, most recently at Apelles Investment Management where he was a partner and served on the investment committee. Prior to that, he was a partner, member of the investment committee and the healthcare portfolio manager at ARX Investment Management. Nick began his career in finance at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Inc. in the Investment Banking Division where he was an analyst, associate and vice president in the Healthcare Department. He is a graduate of Columbia College, Columbia University where he was a member of the heavyweight crew team and president of Saint Anthony Hall. Among his achievements, Nick was named Captain of Industry by ATACH (the American Trade Association for Cannabis and Hemp) and received a Manhattan Project Award from the Tribeca Film Festival as well as a Disruptive Innovation Award for his efforts to combat the national opioid crisis. Nick serves on several non-profit boards including Nantucket Community Sailing and the Brunswick School. In addition, he has served on a number of advisory boards including the New York State Industrial Hemp Working Group (Appointed by the Governor), DEEP (“Disruption and Early Engagement”) Counterterrorism Working Group for the US Attorney General (Eastern District, NY) and Success Academy. He is a Knight of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta. Nick enjoys sailing and has won several competitions including the J Class World Championship (King’s Cup) and St. Barths Bucket (J Class).
