Bio:
Jerry Mao, an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and art collector, has played a key role in shaping China's contemporary art scene. Since 2017, he has co-led the transformation of the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) into the UCCA Group, where he serves as Co-Chairperson. Under his leadership, UCCA has expanded with the launch of UCCA Dune and UCCA Edge, earning recognition as China’s top art institution and a spot on The Art Newspaper's "100 most popular art museums in the world" list for six consecutive years. Mao's initiatives include major exhibitions, such as Picasso in Beijing and the Matisse showcases in 2023. Beyond the art world, Mao's influence extends to luxury fashion and hospitality. He led the revitalization of Shanghai Tang, China's first luxury brand, and helped it thrive by integrating contemporary culture with traditional Chinese aesthetics. His restaurant, Da Vittorio Shanghai, earned two Michelin stars and ranked 34th on the "Asia's 50 Best Restaurants" list in 2023. Mao’s contributions to fostering cultural exchanges between Italy and China earned him the title of Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy in 2023. Jerry Mao is a Fellow of the 2024 Class of the Aspen Institute’s China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
