Bio:
Gerry Keefe is Head of Banking for Europe and the Americas in HSBC’s Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) business. In this role, he oversees the bank’s corporate and institutional clients, leading client coverage, specialized industry groups and regional collaboration. Based in London, Gerry is a member of the HSBC Bank plc Executive Committee. Previously, Gerry previously served as Co-Head of Global Banking Coverage and Head of Global Banking, Americas at HSBC.
Gerry is the executive sponsor for Women in Banking (WIB), a series of regional networks to support
female progression and retention as well as accelerate the execution of DE&I ambitions. He is also the
executive sponsor for the Resource for Employees of African and Caribbean Heritage (REACH), an
employee resource group striving to create a more inclusive environment for all HSBC employees.
Prior to joining HSBC in 2021, Gerry had a 14-year career at Citi, including seven years in the Asia-Pacific
region with responsibility for the region’s corporate banking efforts across 16 markets and
Japan. Prior to moving to Asia, Gerry was in Capital Markets Origination leading the bank’s Global
Securitized Products business. In his last role at Citi he was responsible for the bank’s global client
coverage effort for the Treasury and Trade Solutions business. Over his career, Gerry has worked in
London, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
Gerry serves on the board of A Better Chance, the oldest and only non-profit organization of its kind
supporting access for high-performing middle and high school students of color to independent day
schools, boarding schools and parochial schools. He also serves on the board of the Institute of
International Bankers, which ensures that federal and state banking laws and regulations provide
international banks operating in the United States with the same competitive opportunities as domestic
banking organizations.
Gerry earned a BA from Tulane University in 1993 and a JD from George Washington University School
of Law in 1998.
Gerry is married with three daughters and enjoys skiing and playing golf.
