Bio:
Avid Larizadeh Duggan, OBE is a technology executive and investor with over 20 years of experience across Europe and the U.S. She is passionate about solving complex global challenges and empowering entrepreneurs to shape the future through innovation and humanity.
Avid is currently a senior managing director at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, a C$260b asset manager, where she leads technology venture growth investing across EMEA and serves on the global investment committee. She is also a co-founder of The Operator Network, a group of C-level public company executives and seasoned operators who mentor the next generation of entrepreneurs by offering hands-on advice and personal capital. Her personal portfolio includes over 25 high-growth companies across AI, enterprise software, health, and consumer sectors. Avid also serves as a non-executive director on the board of Barclays UK.
Avid started her career in Silicon Valley as a product manager at eBay, where she launched the company’s first global selling tools and was awarded a U.S. patent in 2005. She then began her investing career at Accel Partners in 2006 as a Kauffman Fellow. In 2009, she co-founded Boticca, an online marketplace later acquired by Wolf & Badger. In 2014, Avid became a General Partner at Google Ventures, where she helped launch GV’s European office. Later, she joined her portfolio company, Kobalt Music Group, as COO to scale operations globally and served on its board for five years.
Avid holds BSc and MSc degrees in Engineering from Stanford, where she was a Mayfield Fellow, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She led Code.org’s UK expansion, helping 20 million people try coding. She has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and was appointed Honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, for services to the economy, business and education. She currently serves on Harvard Business School’s European Advisory Board and on the UK Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology. Avid is a Fellow of the eighth class of the Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
