Bio:
Mark is a serial cross-industry entrepreneur and MIT aerospace engineer who has co-founded companies to bring aerospace techniques, technologies, and solutions to new sectors including biotech, telecommunications, and materials science. In 2016, Mark founded Radia to bring these technologies to bear on the low-carbon energy transition and, importantly, energy security. Radia is an energy company building a unique aerial transportation solution, the WindRunner™, to enable GigaWind™: larger onshore wind turbines deployed to more places to deliver differentiated green electricity and, correspondingly, green molecules at transformational prices.
Under Mark’s leadership, Radia was competitively selected in 2023 by both the World Economic Forum and Endeavor to become an active member of their Global Innovators Community and Global Entrepreneur Community, respectively. As part of these communities, Mark works with policymakers and private sector leaders to help define the global agenda and provide innovative solutions on key issues especially those he is passionate about including climate change.
Prior to founding Radia, Mark was founder and CEO of several companies including BioScale and Ripcord Systems. Prior to these companies, he was on the start-up team at Teledesic and co-founder and VP Operations Active Control eXperts (ACX) that was acquired by Cymer (Nasdaq: CYMI). Mark spent the early part of his career working at NASA/JPL and Boeing. Mark has served on the Board of Directors of MIT and is Advisory Board Emeritus of the Columbia University Center on Global Energy Policy. He is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is an Edmund Hilary Fellow of New Zealand.
Mark is a former ski racer and pilot and holds over twenty patents. Mark earned his Economics MPhil from Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar, and an MBA from MIT's Sloan School as a Leaders for Manufacturing Fellow. He also earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Aero/Astro from MIT. He is a 2013 Henry Crown Fellow and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
