Bio:
David Onyango is a consultant for African Development Bank in the area of water and sanitation development. He was managing director of the Kisumu Water Company (KIWASCO) where he led the transformation of the utility to be one of the leading water companies in Kenya and the region. His background in Engineering and business has enabled him to effectively lead diverse teams in crafting growth strategies, managing business risks, customer relationships and stakeholder interests. He has pioneered a unique service delivery platform for water supply to the poor, being replicated in several countries in Africa and beyond. Prior to joining KIWASCO, David worked in various technical positions in the water industry where he was involved with engineering and construction of water facilities. His volunteer work includes serving in the Board of Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), Commissioner in the Commission for University Education,Kenya. Advisory Board member African Utility Week. He holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering , Masters in Construction Engineering and Management, Loughborough University UK and a MBA from Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands. His passion includes finding solutions for accelerated access to safe water for all. David is a fellow of the ALI East Africa and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
