Bio:
Sameer, after calling time on his 26 years in entrepreneurship and management consulting, is now employing his strategy and execution knowhow in the development sector in India.
He founded Ripples of Hope Foundation in 2020, and is taking on the herculean task of changing the realities of under-privileged adolescent girls, with a focus on prevention of early/child marriage. The foundation employs sports, scholarships and mentoring, and reinterpretation of masculinity, as three levers of shifting out early marriage in young girls in rural India. All of the foundation’s work is based on affirmative action in the most vulnerable of communities in rural India.
Sameer mentors young girls through the Vedica Scholars Programme and the Karm Fellowship, relationships that give him a vital, ground-level appreciation of the struggles of adolescent girls in an extremely patriarchal country.
In 2003 Sameer co-founded The Smart Cube, a data analytics company. In the 17 years since, he spearheaded its growth into a global leader in the analytics solutions space, with offices in UK, Europe, USA and India. Vital to the success of his venture was his decade-long strategy consulting experience, in the 1990s and early 2000s, with Accenture. Sameer is now an active advisor - as well as investor - to early-stage venture capital funds.
Sameer is an avid climber, loves to hike in the upper reaches of the Himalayas, and run expeditions down white-water rivers in India. He is a zealous long-distance runner, a sport that is a way of life for him. Sameer is a slave to his four-year old Golden Retriever and fine coffee.
He is a Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellow, member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, and on the Board of Trustees of the Ananta Aspen Centre.
