Kidd’s Insider Guide To Aspen: Kids Edition
The Aspen Recreation Center: If you want to take a break from the great outdoors, check out the Aspen Recreation Center, locally referred to as the ARC. The ARC offers an indoor taste of some of Colorado’s best activities. While it might be summer in Aspen, the ARC has a full indoor ice rink if you want to get a taste of what locals do outdoors in the winter. It also features a multi-story rock-climbing wall where kids of all ages can try to scale between floors. Finally, two swimming pools, one with a variety of fountains and waterslides, can also be accessed from the lobby. For more information on hours, prices, and special events, please visit the website here.
Aspen Center for Environmental Studies: If you want to experience some of Aspen’s most tranquil natural surroundings, head over to the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). The team of trained Naturalists can give you an overview of the local ecosystem at Hallam Lake, the ACES headquarters, or at various points throughout Aspen and the surrounding areas. They offer guided hikes on the top of Aspen Mountain or at the base of the Maroon Bells. If you do stop by Hallam Lake, make sure to see the various birds of prey they have on the property!
